Learning a foreign language can be both challenging and rewarding.
Bonjour! Hola! Ciao!

Learning a foreign language can be both challenging and rewarding. Whether you're working toward a degree in international business or brushing up for a trip abroad, there are a number of available resources.
Because of the changing world scene, proficiency in a modern foreign language offers an advantage to those entering the mainstream professional life.

Graduates with a sound background in a language other than their native tongue are increasingly in demand by business and governmental organizations, the scientific community and foreign countries seeking technical assistance.

There are a number of nationally-recognized universities and colleges that offer full-time, part-time, and evening courses in foreign languages. Find a school that's right for you in the listings on Kudzu.com.
  • Different courses for different needs

  • A foreign language curriculum generally has different levels — from novice to advanced, depending on your skill level.

An introductory-level Spanish course, for example, will typically cover the basics of grammar as well as Spanish culture, including hints on business etiquette. Most courses will supply a workbook and CD-ROM to help you study both in and out of class.

Though prices of course vary from school to school, most language education programs around the metro area generally charge about $150 for courses that range from seven to 10 weeks in length and include supplies.

  • Look for teachers who've spent significant time in a foreign country

  • Regardless of which schools or languages peak your interest, visit the campus and facilities and make sure the instructors are well qualified. Ask about each course's teacher-student ratio and the instructors’ qualifications.

Look for instructors who have lived in foreign countries, as they can offer insights into much more than just the basics of the structure of a language — they can provide an understanding of the culture of the language(s) they teach.

You should expect to receive a certificate of completion for each course and level of completion.
