I was at Ochsner with an old-school dr. who poo-pooed my desire for a natural waterbirth. Dr. Lap was referred to me by a doula who works with her regularly. Even though I switched at 30 weeks, she took time to answer my questions, refer me to helpful resources, encourage me to follow my gut about the birth, and even found some abnormlities in my test results from early pregnancy that the Ochsner dr. missed (anemia that was causing fatigue--the other dr. who ordered the test never even gave me the results!). Her office is a disaster and the wait is ridiculously long, but usually because she takes her time with each patient and doesn't let you leave until all questions are answered. Her staff is nice if you are nice to them: welcome to New Orleans, that's how it is here. No fake smiles if you aren't friendly first. I am very happy I switched to her office and am excited she is helping me bring my first baby into the world. I have often heard her referred to as having been a midwife in her past life.

Dr. Lap seems to be a personable and skilled physician. Her office, however, if one of the most disorganized I have ever been to and her staff often rude. As with many doctors, there seems to be a time crush and you must ask to have a one on one conversation with the doctor with your clothes on.

I have had to wait upwards of an hour, as much as two hours, for my appointment (being the first appointment of the day, even). The staff has failed to notify me twice of cancelled appointments, and has never called to confirm an appointment. My veternarian's office has much better service. I have been skipped over and also told that I was wasting a staff member's time when I asked a question about transferring records to a specialist.

I was referred to Dr Lap by a very good friend of mind.I had been going from gynecolgy to gynecolgy trying to find the right one for me. When I called to make an appointment I had something that I need to get a second opition on and Dr Lap was the one for me. Her willings to listen and her advice was what prompt me to say that she was the doctor for me. I really enjoy talking to her at my doctor visit she makes you feel at home and that you are not taliking to some stranger and this is what I admirer about her. I wish that there where more doctor's with her personality and her professionalism. Thanks a million!
